“Women are Unclean for 15 days” – Kanthapurams excuse to Polygamous marriages in Islam!

Islam is profoundly anti-women. For centuries, Islam has been dehumanizing women. Even today Islam is the fundamental cause of repression of Muslim women and remains the major obstacle to the evolution of their status in society.

 

In India and in several countries lively debate on the social status of Muslim women is taking place. Muslim women’s equality and inequality in past and present has become a controversial and important field of legal intervention by courts in India and the west.

 

 Recently several Indian courts have opined that Muslim men must provide resources and material sustenance for divorced Muslim women. Muslim women must also share equally in deciding the use and distribution of goods procured, raised, or made during their marriage.

Since Islamic religious leaders are vehemently opposed to equality for Muslim women, political leaders are reluctant to introduce laws for equal rights for Muslim women.

Islam has always considered women as creatures inferior in every way physically, intellectually, and morally. The negative vision is negatively sanctioned in the Koran, corroborated by the Hadiths, and perpetuated by Mullahs, the custodians of Islamic dogma and ignorance.
 
Kanthapuram Aboobacker Musaliyar a spiritual leader of Muslims in Kerala and one of the prime suspect in the murder of Muslim reformer Chekannur Maulavi gave justification o polygamy in a TV Channel . His response was in the wake of High Court suggestion to have a system in place at the national or regional level to supervise marriages , Polygamy and divorces.
High court observation came while considering a case involving Muslim couple.

 

According to him (His scriptures )

 

More than fifteen days women are unclean. Men need to have sex with women at his will and need multiple wives to over come the difficulty to men during those 15 days  !

“Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded.”

 

 “A wife should never refuse herself to her husband even if it is on the saddle of a camel.”

Mullahs like Kanthapuram and Pseudo secular politicians are working hard to keep Muslim women as subordinate. At the same time no so called Advocates women Forum who and Left Front’s women organisations which emitted venom against Sabarimala where no where seen to condemn Kanthapuram’s statement.

As per IANS Report  VP Suhra, the president of NISA, a Muslim women’s organisation, said the court’s observation was a welcome development.

“The government should implement these observations. Divorces in the community are unilateral action taken by men. Holy Koran has been wrongly interpreted to perpetuate male hegemony. The religious heads are likely to oppose the court’s observation as it will erode their authority,” Suhra said.

 

The Vanitha League, the women’s wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) declined to comment on the issue
and other Muslim organisations were against HC Suggestion.
