LeT’s module is used to train mujahideens

KOZHIKODE: The terror training imparted to youths recruited from Kerala is a replica of the system evolved by the banned Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Highly placed sources, who have accessed training manuals of the terrorist outfit, told this website’s newspaper that the LeT had a structured module to train mujahideens, which is identical all over the world.
Hidayatnama, the manual recovered from a Pakistani terrorist, and a ‘Guide to a Mujahideen’, written by LeT second- in-command Abdul Rehman Makki, are the basic ‘textbooks’ used at the terror schools scattered all over Pakistan.
The five youths selected from the state could not cross the border to get trained at the LeT camp.
But it is strongly suspected that the leaders of the gang like Sainudheen alias Sattar Haji from Kondotty, Tadiyantavide Nazeer alias Umer Haji and Sabir alias Ayub had undergone training at one of the LeT camps.
Nazeer and his gang were copying what LeT commanders did on the other side of the border. The LeT strategy is to spot youths with a criminal background and then mould them into mujahideens.
Initially, the youths are told to be ‘pious Muslims’ after a heavy dose of indoctrination.
After a few days in camps, they are sent to nearby cities to ‘interact’ with the public.
The LeT leaders keep monitoring their public speaking skills and ability to influence people.
The camps for Kerala youths were conducted in various mosques in the state and at the Noorisha Tariqa centre in Hyderabad.
Those selected from the camp are sent for ‘higher studies’ where primary training will be given in use of weapons like AK-47s and rifles.
The five youths from the state were taken to Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir for this training.
The crucial preparation for fidayeen attacks is made at camps in PoK. The contents of the course include training by ex-soldiers in use of communication gadgets, sophisticated weapons like surface-to-air missiles, Mi5 guns, interrogation techniques and manufacture of explosives.
Apart from these, there is a spiritual exercise which includes recitation of Holy Quran, especially those chapters that deal with jihad.
“To become a martyr is the dream of every mujahid. It is a gift from God, and will also send a message that the mujahid would prefer to die in an interrogation cell rather than disclose any secrets which would harm other mujahids,†says Hidayatnama.
The book has chapters on “collective restraintâ€, personal restraint, tips to behave in public and ways to confuse interrogators.
It also has technical details like the speed of bullets from different guns. “A bullet from AK 47 travels at a speed of 825 metres a second while that of a G-3 rifle 800 metres a second,†says the book.
