Why cultural Kerala now laments over the attack on Paul Zacharia?

Kannur: Paul Zacharia, Writer , leftist co traveller and so called intellectual of cultural Kerala received the taste of Marxist intolerance here in Payannur.

The bid to manhandle the writer came after he delivered a speech criticizing the DYFI for its fascist and parochial tendencies during a book-release function. Zachariah later said that nothing but lack of level-headedness, foolishness or mere arrogance of being in power had led the DYFI to attack him. “It is yet another occasion for me to understand personally the intolerance of the DYFI towards people like me,” he said later.

The DYFI activists had pounced on him when Zachariah and his companions were trying to leave the place in a car. The gang of Leftist youths, led allegedly by the son of a former CPI(M) MP, shouted at Zachariah that he “should not hope to leave Payyannur after making such speeches against the DYFI. Payyannur in Kannur district is known as a CPI(M) fortress.

Paul Zacharia had dedicated his whole life to abuse Hinduism and Hindu organisations and spiritual leaders like Mata Amritanandamayi through his writings. Hindu organisations had always countered such criticisms through their publications ideologically and the rantings of the writer couldn’t buy much takers.

Now a section of cultural Kerala had started commenting covertly and overtly against the intolerance of Marxist thugs in Kannur. Hindu organisations and Hindu activists were facing this brunt and wrath of these thugs for past few decades. The cultural Kerala had maintained a deadly silence always against the brutal attacks against Hindus in Kannur.

Cultural Kerala is to blame for this current fascist, Talibinized attitude of comrades in Kannur in a way as their silence over past brutal acts had encouraged the CPM thugs to depend upon violence and muscle power to counter their opponents.
