Madhani: Just a sample of ‘terror’ brewing in Kerala

In the aftermath of terrorist Abdul Nazar Madhani’s wife Sufiya’s arrest by the Kerala police, both the Congress and Communist parties enacted a brazen drama blaming each other publicly for the growth of terror in Kerala. But people have not forgotten the ‘voluntary service’ rendered by both parties to Madhani, his family and party. Shall we have a glimpse of that ‘service’ to terror?
 
Secular politicians as Madhani’s servants
 
Abdul Nazar Madhani was under incarceration under charges of conspiracy and involvement in the 1998 Coimbatore blasts case between 1998 and 2007. On June 2, 2005, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy met Madhani’s wife and father at their residence and assured steps for the immediate release of Madhani on ‘humanitarian’ grounds.
 
On March 14, 2006, the Kerala Assembly comprising Congress, Communist and Muslim parties unanimously passed a shocking and unprecedented resolution seeking release of Madhani on humanitarian grounds. Kerala politicians thus earned the ‘honour’ of shaming the nation.
 
Later, Kerala Chief Minister Achutanandan sent his ministers to Coimbatore prison to meet Madhani to extend moral support and assure steps being taken for his release. On June 10, 2006, Achutanandan himself came and met his Tamil Nadu counterpart Karunanidhi to secure the release of Abdul Nazar Madhani. Though Karunanidhi refused to release Madhani, he arranged for an ‘Ayurvedic Spa’ and preferential treatment in the name of healthcare, exclusively for Madhani inside the prison.
 
On August 1, 2007, after a laborious trial in a special court, Justice Uthirapathi acquitted Madhani for want of damning evidence. Madhani was given a hero’s welcome in Thiruvananthapuram. Both the UDF and LDF vied for credit for his acquittal. While Communists as the ruling dispensation could join the festivities at the felicitation function, Congressmen could not join as they were the opposition. Madhani assured his support to the LDF government. As Kerala politicians shamelessly painted him as a Good Samaritan, Madhani tried to project a new moderate image. He claimed he had never been a terrorist (!) and his future plan was to work for the welfare of Dalits & Muslims. He clarified he would not sue the TN government for detaining him in prison for nine long years, but warned that he would take up the case again if Tamil Nadu went for an appeal.

In September 2005, Madhani’s party men burnt a Tamil Nadu State Corporation bus at Kalamassery near Cochin. A terrorist named Nazeer, who was involved in many terror attacks including the said incident, was caught in Bangladesh and deported to India. He was also wanted in connection with the 2008 Bengaluru blasts, and now it has been revealed that he is the South India Commander of the Pak-based LeT. When Kerala police questioned him, they discovered he had been given refuge in Madhani’s house and that he and Madhani’s wife were involved in many terror attacks such as Bengaluru blasts, Coimbatore Press Club attack, attack on IISc, Bengaluru, apart from the bus burning incident in Kalamassery.

So Kerala police included her in the chargesheet on December 12 and her anticipatory bail application was rejected by the Kerala High Court, after which she was arrested on December 17. Police teams from neighbouring Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are also questioning her.

But Madhani termed the police action against his wife as a ‘conspiracy’ against him and his family and alleged that certain top police officials were behind it.

Anti-terror drama by Congressmen and Communists
 
The moment Sufiya was arrested, both Congress and Communist parties vied with each other to distance themselves from Madhani. Till recently both parties had been singing paeans on Madhani, calling him secularist and Mahatma, and now they have started enacting a brazen drama as if they don’t have any connections with Madhani, his family and party. Their fight to disown him seems worse than their fight to have an electoral alliance with him!

Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who doesn’t hesitate to flaunt his love for terrorists, had said, “The police action enhanced the image of our LDF Government with respect to its ‘relentless’ attitude towards extremism. The former UDF Government had slept over several evidences against Sufiya for eight months without taking any action.”
 
This led Opposition leader Oommen Chandy to retort: “Why the LDF Government’s police had taken more than 42 months to move against Sufiya Madhani. Kodiyeri is speaking about my lapses in arresting Sufiya in those eight months. I am asking him for the reason of his lapses in the same matter for 42 months.” He added that the UDF, while going out of power, had handed over all evidences the Home Department had gathered in the case to the new LDF regime. “Why the delay in arresting Sufiya when he was in possession of the same evidences that he was now speaking of” asked Chandy. He claimed the UDF had never tried to mix law and order issues with politics.
 
But Kerala had seen enough of both fronts seeking the electoral support of Abdul Nasser Madhani’s party.

Chennai High Court’s verdict on Coimbatore blast victims’ Appeal Petitions
 
When Kerala politicians were fighting each other on Madhani, the Chennai HC delivered its verdict on the appeal petitions filed by some Coimbatore blast victims. Justice Praba Sridevan and Justice Sathyanarayanan not only upheld the acquittal of Madhani, but ordered the release of 22 more terrorists! This verdict of the High Court was a heavy blow to the victims, adding insult to their injury.
 
The High Court also made some scathing observations against the state government. The bench condemned the release of 9 terrorists on former CM Annadurai’s birth anniversary: “The power of executive is subject to the rule of law and it cannot be exercised on the ground of political expediency. It cannot be granted merely as a grand gesture. It is not for the benefit of the convicts alone. The executive should equally bear in mind the society and the message it means to the community.” The bench observed that a systematic and methodological investigation was absent and that the prosecution should have slapped charges under stronger laws.
 
Observing that there was enough material to indicate a conspiracy and a cohesive plan, the bench said, “What did the plotters achieve by the deaths of innocent persons? Was there any triumph in the senseless killing of youth? It could not have given anyone any cause to cheer. We do not think even the plotters would have felt happy after the event” (19 Dec. 2009)
The so-called Secularism and Human Rights showcasing its secular mindset, the High Court said, “A great deal more can be achieved if the Yuddha, the Jihad, the Crusade is launched against injustice and evils like poverty and illiteracy”.
 
‘Holy War’ (Jihad, Crusade) has been the practice of Abrahamic religions and there is plentiful evidence in history. Hindus have neither waged holy war nor invaded another nation; so one can only wonder at the usage of ‘Yuddha’ by the Court along with ‘Jihad’ and ‘Crusade’.
 
Normally such phony ‘secularism’ comes out along with fake ‘human rights’ causes. Both are interrelated and are always used against Hindus and Hindu causes. When Madhani was incarcerated in Coimbatore prison, the ‘human rights’ champions staged a few dramas that he was being tortured inside prison, and must be released on humanitarian grounds. A consistent campaign was launched and former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Krishna Iyer, also took part in the campaign.
 
Now, after his wife’s arrest, Madhani has utilized Krishna Iyer’s certificate and claims he and his wife are innocent. Shocked at Madhani’s propaganda, Justice Krishna Iyer tried to clarify, “I don’t have any kind of relation with Madhani or his party. If at all my name was used, it was without my prior knowledge or consultation.” He said he had never met Sufiya Madhani, but had taken up the Madhani issue as he was reportedly being tortured in the jail.
 
He said, “While he was detained in the Coimbatore jail, his wife had sent me a letter alleging that he was being tortured and seeking my intervention. I had then written to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, urging him to give humanitarian consideration to his case, for fearing of violation of human rights. I don’t know whether Madhani had any terrorist links or not. After he was released from the jail, I was invited to a function by him, which I attended. He told me his party was a secular one. I do not have anything more to say about him.”

When the whole country is aware that Madhani has been an extremist right from the day he started the Islamic Seva Sangh (ISS) and that his party PDP has been known for violence and terrorism, it is surprising that a Supreme Court Judge should feign ignorance about Madhani’s terror links! How could an experienced and eminent judge support a terrorist who was involved in the brutal killing of 60 innocent persons and maiming around 200?
 
Claiming ignorance about a terrorist after extending support to him is not acceptable. Are ‘human rights’ only for Madhanis, Afzals and Kasabs? What about the terror victims and their families; the injured and maimed for life? Have persons like Krishna Iyer ever written a letter to Karunanidhi asking for decent compensation for blast victims? Justice Krishna Iyer’s dilemma is a classic example of what can happen to judges who dabble in politics.
 
Coming back to the Coimbatore blasts case, the victims are really saddened at the High Court’s verdict which upheld Madhani’s acquittal and ordered the release of 22 more terrorists. They are likely to approach the Supreme Court for justice.
 
The observations made in the Chennai High Court’s verdict seem to be mere eyewash. If it is convinced of a conspiracy and a cohesive plan, how and why did it uphold Madhani’s acquittal and order release of 22 convicts? Similarly, having observed that a focused, systematic and methodological investigation was absent and that the prosecution had not charged the accused under appropriate sections of the law, why did the HC refrain from asking an explanation from the government? Why didn’t it direct the government to compensate the victims justly? Just because the victims are Hindus, does it mean they don’t have human rights?
 
A clear observation of what is happening in Gujarat and Orissa would throw light on how human right champions, secular sevaks and minority rights mahatmas coordinate with one another, raise funds, concoct stories, set up witnesses, frame charges, drive and threaten governments, and achieve their agendas. The ‘secular’ media joins them and they function as a cohesive team!
 
What happened to Sadhvi Pragya? The SIT, which was investigating the Malegaon blasts, arrested her on foisted charges, slapped POTA, tortured her for one year, and relieved her of POTA charges after the general elections. She remains in prison without further enquiry and without bail! Recall how berserk the mainstream media (both print and electronic) went in maligning the Sadhvi and creating a non-existent Hindu Terror!
 
The same media is now maintaining deafening silence on Sufiya Madhani, who was arrested on terror charges with proper evidences! No 24×7 news channel reported her story, why? Sufiya was only questioned and was treated like a guest, unlike the poor Sadhvi who was treated like a terrorist. Sufiya was escorted to hospital by a top police official, why, how and what for?

Why did the prosecution facilitate her bail process by not taking the case with the seriousness it deserved? When the Kerala police had evidence and when Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police were questioning her for other offences committed by her in their states, why did the prosecution fail to retain her in custody? Was it because she happens to be a Muslim?

An innocent Hindu Sadhvi has suffered media slander, POTA charges, torture in police custody, and no medical treatment, and is in prison even after withdrawal of POTA charges. A Muslim terror-woman, despite evidences against her, has not undergone any media slander and was treated like a guest. She was not subjected to any torture and was treated in a high class hospital and her bail facilitated within ten days! This is a classic example of “secularism” and “human rights” as practiced in India!   
 
DMK government winning appreciations from terrorists
 
If Tamils had done just 10% of what happened in Orissa and Gujarat, the Coimbatore blast victims would have got justice. Those who have keenly watched the proceedings of the Coimbatore case would know that the Tamil Nadu government and prosecution did not handle the case efficiently. Even the High Court observed as much. The moment the DMK government refused to appeal against the release of Madhani by the special court, the BJP and other organizations should have organized protests and demonstrations and forced the government to appeal in the High Court. The BJP failed miserably in this regard.
 
The bomb blasts happened when DMK was in power; Madhani was given the facility of an Ayurvedic Spa in prison by the DMK; the DMK government slapped ordinary IPC sections on accused terrorists and prepared a weak chargesheet; the DMK (and AIADMK too) placed weak and useless arguments during the hearings. During the DMK regime fundamentalist parties like TMMK and violent parties like VCK conducted protest demonstrations and campaigns for the immediate release of the terrorists in the name of human rights; Madhani was acquitted during the DMK regime and DMK took the decision of not going for appeal against his release; DMK released ten life convicts involved in the Coimbatore blasts on Annadurai’s birth anniversary and now 22 more terrorists are acquitted when DMK is ruling.
 
Prime accused Basha’s son Siddhiq Ali, one of the released, appreciated this, “DMK government is a model for ‘secular’ administration. When justice is being denied for minorities in other states in the country, Tamil Nadu is now in the forefront of practicing secularism. The police are no more resorting to one-sided action. So we are hopeful the DMK government will release the 18 convicts who still remain in Jail”. He added, “It was a big surprise. I never expected to get justice. There is no need for our organizations like Al Umma any more, as the DMK government is secular. What happened (in 1998) were only retaliation and not an act of terrorism”.
 
After waging a jihad against this nation, killing 60 innocent Hindus and maiming 200 others, terming it an act of retaliation and appreciating the state government shows the cushy life the terrorists enjoyed in the prison! Will anyone who had undergone rigorous imprisonment talk like this? Siddhiq Ali went further and appealed to the government for funds for rehabilitation and hoped the benevolent Chief Minister would order release of the remaining culprits before the “International Classic Tamil Conference” to be held in June. It would be no surprise if the DMK government, which has the dubious distinction of getting appreciation from terrorists, releases the remaining prisoners and ‘helps’ them with funds for rehabilitation. The Classic Tamil Conference would be a guise like Annadurai’s birth anniversary! Is it clear now why prime accused Basha didn’t file an appeal? Unfortunately, Tamil Hindus have not realized their strength and united to question the government’s anti-Hindu postures. Tamils have become a dhimmi lot.
 
Coimbatore blast victims have been waging a lonely battle without support or strength. Despite the lower court’s verdict, now the High Court has also set free 22 more extremists. It is high time the victims are strengthened and supported. Even now it is not late; in fact it is better late than never for BJP and other organizations to pull up their socks and get into the legal battle. At a time when the victims are planning an appeal in the Supreme Court, the expose of Madhani’s LeT links must be utilized to the hilt and a legally tight petition filed with the appeal, so that Madhani is brought back into the ambit of legal scrutiny and punished duly for his involvement in the Coimbatore blasts. Only then the departed innocent souls would rest in peace and the victims’ families would receive justice.
 
    
Kerala – A ground breeding terror

Indians must give serious thought to the Chennai High Court observation on Jihad and Crusade. India is the only country which has borne the brunt of both to the maximum. While ‘Jihad’ is continuing unabated, ‘Crusade’ has taken the form of evangelization and conversion is another form of terrorism.
 
An important aspect regarding jihad and conversion is that most perpetrators originate from Kerala. A terrorist in Kashmir hails from Kerala; a terrorist involved in Coimbatore blast is from Kerala; those who operate sleeper cells from Kashmir and Kanyakumari are either from Kerala or trained in Kerala; similarly the nun who enacted the rape drama in Orissa is from Kerala; and the padire who played a supportive role in that drama is also from Kerala! Most of padires and nuns who indulge in conversion activities in Karnataka are from Kerala. The alternative rules of Congress and Communist parties have only helped the growth of terrorists, evangelists, terrorism and conversion.
 
Professor of Criminal Psychology, Dr. Babu Suseelan says, “Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are the ideological, financial and training center of the global Islamic terrorism. Now Dubai has joined the terrorists club. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Al-Qaeda, and Laskhar-e-Toiba use Dubai for financing, recruiting and deploying Jihadi terrorists against India. The Saudi Religious Affairs Ministry finances thousands of mosques in Kerala and different parts of India. The Islamic goal is to abolish Indian Hindu culture and secular ethos and replace it with Islamo- fascism.”
 
Dr. Suseelan adds, “Pakistan Jihadi recruiting agents and ISI target Muslims from Kerala with financial largesse. Recruited Muslims are sent to Pakistan for further indoctrination, and Jihad terrorism training. Pakistan trained Jihadis have penetrated every state in India. They have established a vast network of Jihadis and additional training centers in different parts of India.”
 
He says, “Dubai based Muslim businessmen use a complex financial money laundering web to provide infrastructure and financial support for Islamic terror groups in Kerala. Muslims in Kerala receive financial largesse from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and from Kerala Muslims settled in Dubai. They have established vast and complex financial, religious, media, and educational networks in Kerala to propagate Islamic extremism and Jihadist interests. Through numerous charitable organizations, business houses, newspapers and television, Jihadis have successfully recruited thousands of terrorists for the Islamic Jihad against India”.
 
For example, the ‘Thejas’ media (newspaper and magazine) acts as an official voice of terror outfits such as SIMI, NDF, PFI and PDP and this media house allegedly gets funds from Dubai, Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries. Both organs support Jihad and their impact in the intellectual field is telling. Phony human rights activists, pseudo-secularists and leftists are allegedly paid by this media house to write ‘Op-Ed’ columns in other newspapers and magazines and participate in debates in 24×7 news channels.

Meanwhile, the Union Government has accepted the fact that organizations like NDF indulge in terrorist activities and that they mislead, recruit and train Muslim youth to become extremists. The Union Home Department has instructed the Kerala Government to monitor the activities of Thejas newspaper and fortnightly run by the Islamist organization, NDF (presently, Popular Front of India) and take appropriate action on the ground that the two publications are airing communal and extremist views. The main complaint of the Home Department against the publications is that they depict actions taken by the police and security forces as ‘State terrorism’. The publications take a position that justifies the stand of the terrorists.
 
The letter, written by the Union Home Department on Nov. 18, reached the Kerala government in the first week of December and reportedly gives details about the sources of funds for Thejas media. It says that funds for the publications were coming from several rich industrialists within the country and abroad. The letter is reported to have specifically named a travel agency in Kozhikode in this regard. It points out that the newspaper has been receiving publishing Kerala Government advertisements. The paper and the magazine are run by Thejas Publishing Charitable Trust.

Counterfeit Indian currency, printed in Pakistan, is being spread throughout the country through sleeper cells and business houses which support terror clandestinely, as evidenced by the fact that almost all those arrested in counterfeit currency racket from Kashmir to Kanyakumari are Muslims and most hail from Kerala and West Bengal.
 
The latest concept of “Love Jihad” brings a new dimension to Islamic terrorism; the Kerala government started taking action only after Christian organizations complained. It was turning a blind eye as long as Hindu girls were victimized by Love-Jihadis. Muslim youths belonging to various Islamic fundamentalist organizations have been luring Hindu girls (college students, young working women) in the guise of romance and pressurising them to convert to Islam after forcing them to marry them.
 
It has been widely reported that thousands of Hindu girls have been converted in this fashion. When a case involving two girls from Pattanamthittaa reached Kerala High Court, it ordered the DGP to probe the matter and file a report. Based on the High Court’s order, the Kerala police conducted investigations and the DGP filed a report categorically confirming concerted attempts by Muslim youths to persuade Hindu girls to change their religion after making them fall for them in the guise of love.
 
One of the 18 reports submitted by the DGP said that outfits such as the National Democratic Front, the Popular Front of India and the Campus Front had roots in college campuses. The report also mentions the Muslim Youth Forum and the Shaheen Force. A Special Branch report said the organisations trap brilliant upper caste Hindu girls from well-to-do families, especially those in professional courses. There were over 100 cases in Thiruvananthapuram district alone.
 
The High Court observed, “As per the statistics available around 3000-4000 such incidents took place during the last four years. The report says that Love Jehad organisations operate all over the country and are believed to have started their activities with the blessings of Muslim organisations.” The Kerala High Court finally directed the state government to consider whether a law should be enacted to prohibit such conversions.
 
Many organizations from Islamic foreign countries are reportedly funding this Love-Jihad.

The recent arrest of Sufiya Madhani, T Nassir, Umar Farooqi, Halim, Majeed Parambil, Tajudeen, Sabeer and Shuhoe and several other Jihadis and the details given by them during interrogation confirmed the dangerous truth that Kerala is a breeding ground of terrorism and that the whole country is under imminent threat because of Kerala.
 
C.I. Issac, Professor of History from Trivandrum says, “The question of Islamic terrorism was widely discussed since the 1980s, but the decision-makers did not take the progressively burgeoning menace of terrorism in Kerala in its true perspective. The result was that the terrorist outfits of Kerala acquired an international character by establishing relations with Mumbai terror suspect David Coleman Headley, since then in the custody of the FBI in Chicago.”
 
Citing two reasons for the growth of terror in Kerala, Prof. Issac says, ‘There are various reasons behind the laxity of political coalitions of Kerala towards terrorists. The first is the petro-money from Arab courtiers reaching Islamic terrorist groups through legitimate and hawala channels. With this money terrorists are able to effectively silence the corrupt and greedy political leaderships of both coalitions of the State. The second reason is the minority votebanks. The third is the absence of Hindutva-consciousness amongst the Hindus, which complements the birth of minority votebanks.”
 
Observing the activities of politicians like Pinarayi Vijayan and Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Prof. Issac exposes the CPIM-Jihadi links: “To the Kerala CPM, jihadi activities are ‘milch cows’. Several CPM leaders are billionaires through ‘milking’ this cow. Some decades ago they were penurious and ideological Marxists. Now everything has changed and they are leading a palatial life. What is the source of their accumulated wealth / income? Is there any competent authority in India which can unearth the source of income of these Marxist-Capitalists? How truly can Kerala bear the epithet “God’s Own Country?”
