Tamil Magazine’s Unconditional apology for publishing Prophet’s Caricature

Here is yet another example of how Muslims watch the media, take initiative,
approach clearly and achieve their objective.

“Muthaaram” is a weekly magazine from Maran Brothers’ “Kungumam Publications”. It supposedly caters to children and students. In its issue dated 29-03-2010, it carried the teachings of Prophet Mohammed along with a caricature of him.   

TMMK’s (Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam) South Chennai District President Seeni Mohammed and MMK’s (Manithaneya Makkal Katchi – Political party of TMMK) Secretary Abdul Salaam lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police demanding the immediate arrest of the Editor of the weekly.

Hyder Ali, General Secretary of TMMK, contacted the Editor on 22nd and strongly condemned the magazine for carrying the caricature of the Prophet.

Within an hour, the Editor faxed his unconditional apology by means of a letter.

The letter read:

 “The teachings of the Prophet were published in order to make the students and children aware of such noble and knowledgeable thoughts, but while designing the concerned pages the picture went for print along with the text due to oversight. It had happened inadvertently and we never meant to hurt the religious sentiments of Muslim community.

We also assure you that we would not make such mistakes in future.”
