Yogi Adityanath: ‘Love jihad’ will be a bypoll issue in UP.

LUCKNOW: ‘Love jihad’ may not have found mention in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s official resolution after its executive committee meet in Vrindavan, but it doesn’t mean the party will refrain from raising the issue in the forthcoming byelections. Eleven assembly and Mainpuri Lok Sabha will go to the polls on September 13.

“The issue of ‘love jihad’ would certainly be an issue in this bypoll,” said Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath, who will be a star campaigner along with Union minister Kalraj Mishra and state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpayi. “I have been raising this issue for the past four to five years. The menace first began in Kerala and has now spread to Western UP,” Yogi said, adding that the worst part is that the Samajwadi Party government in the state has turned a blind eye to it.

“There is no dearth of issues in the state when SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh are at the helm of affairs,” he said. Elaborating on a few such issues, Yogi said that in a bid to appease members of a community, the SP government was getting boundary walls constructed around graveyards. Adding to it, frequent riots in the state ever since Akhilesh Yadav-led SP government came to power is testimony to the fact that the law and order situation had been crippled, he said.
