Why media happily projected a ‘Fake’ Sankaracharya?

Swami Adhokshjanand who campaigned against Narendra Modi is a fraud who was in news several years ago when he tried in vain to claim the position of Shankaracharya of Govardhan Peeth in Puri.

The self-styled ‘Shankaracharya’, known for his pranks to stay in limelight, claimed Modi was trying to mislead the people in Varanasi and said he will oppose him because the Gujarat chief minister believes in dividing people. The self styled seer also demanded that the restrictions imposed on Azam Khan by the Election Commission should be lifted.

However, people in the know of things were amused that Adhoksjanand still claims to have been the Shankaracharya of Puri, a position held by Swami Nischalanand Saraswati for over a decade. But Mainstream Media never bothered to bestow him the fake honour.
