THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOLLAM: Despite clinching evidences of PDP chairman Abdul Nassar Madhani’s terror links and the danger alarm raised by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday shared the dais with PDP working chairman Poonthura Siraj.

During the inaugural of the LDF election convention at Attingal, Siraj went to the extent of pooh-poohing RSP general secretary T J Chandrachoodan in the presence of Pinarayi Vijayan.

The crux of Siraj’s speech was the future prospects of the unity between the CPM and the PDP. He conveyed it oft and on in his speech by repeatedly terming LDF as ‘our Front’.

Hundreds of PDP workers filled the hall in Attingal where the convention of CPM candidate A Sampath was held.

They were transported in cabs and vans that spotted PDP’s green flag and CPM’s red flag tied to the same pole.

“Tomorrow comrade Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the election convention of Hussein Randathani in Ponnani. Our supreme leader Abdul Nassar Madhani will attend the convention,” an elated Siraj told the gathering. He said though Chandrachoodan happend to be a leader of the RSP , his party won’t keep away from supporting RSP because RSP is an LDF constituent.

Chandrachoodan had recently criticised the PDP for its pro-terrorist policies.

Siraj was accommodated beside Pinarayi and CPI’s Minister C Divakaran in the front row of the dais by shifting RSP leader A A Azeez MLA and Democratic Women’s Association state president T N Seema to the back row.

Meanwhile, the CPI has decided to harden its stand towards the PDP.

The party decided not to invite the PDP to the election conventions in Thiruvananthapuram, Mavelikkara, Thrissur and Wayanad where the party candidates contest.

On Friday, PDP was not invited for the election convention of CPI candidate R S Anil in Mavelikkara.

Sources in the CPI told to The New Indian Express that the CPI was of the opinion that CPM’s illicit relations with the PDP should not be at the expense of the LDF. The party will also convey its displeasure over LDF convener Vaikom Viswan’s positive remarks on PDP to the CPM.
