What next ……………

There has never been a dull moment and there will never be one ever in the Indian political theater till such time that the Sonia Gandhi led congress presides over one of the most corrupted & misgoverned governments in the history of Independent India. The monsoon session of parliament has been washed away thanks to the #coalgate scam by the congress & its allies. With a series of congress scams competing to out do one another the opposition , in particular the BJP was left with no option but to press for a change of leadership at the helm. With no accountability & the brazenness with which the congress & its allies were looting the country there was no option but to ask for MMS to step down & cancel all the licenses allotted in Coalgate.

The congress known for its dirty tricks did try & divert the attention by introducing the reservation bill in promotions. For a change the BJP did not fall into the trap & continued to stall the proceedings with its two said demands. Interestingly the BJP did not relent to the pressure of its coalition partners in NDA who at one time were willing for a debate without the PM resigning or the licenses being cancelled. This was an interesting & refreshing decision by the BJP leadership which was lacking since 2004 when it lost power in Delhi. It also drives home a point that BJP when it fights its battles alone & not as an NDA constituent does much better than under the umbrella of NDA while in opposition, a point i have been stressing in my various blogs.

While the coalgate kept the parliament closed without transacting any business the nation witnessed another riots under congress rule, this time in Assam. The riots & unrest are a result of rampant migrations from Bangladesh legitimized by the successive congress govts in the name of vote bank politics. The country also witnessed the intolerance of the Sonia Gandhi led govt who chose to block some journalists & bloggers from twitter as they were putting out the real facts behind the riots in Assam. After going through all the Op Ed’s, articles & blogs on the blocking issue it appears to me that a section of our media , especially the English media was hand in glove with the UPA in selectively blocking the journos & bloggers though no hate speech was ever written by them. Not surprisingly though The Hindu carried an article pointing to “at least” four media houses being beneficiaries of the coal blocks allocation.

The media houses being hand in glove with congress is not a new thing. They have benefited immensely by looking the other way when the congress ministers & its allies pocketed wealth of the nation. The media not only benefited in terms of business deals , Govt ad revenues but also ensured they got away with crimes of pimping which came into light via Radia tapes. The media went hyper when Sonia Gandhi addressed the congressmen to go aggressive against the opposition. Their aggressiveness was seen when the anti sikh riots accused Jagdish Tytler addressed(instigated) youth congressmen who then thrashed & molested a Lady Cop in Odhissa. All the celebrity journos in the media who have been giving sermons to the opposition to get back to parliament have completely avoided covering the Odhissa incident until the OTV channel telecasted the visuals.

It is not at all surprising that this biased media twisted the 2002 – Naroda Patiya verdict & made it look like a Blow to Narendra Modi instead of hailing him for not blocking the justice process in which one the Ex BJP ministers was sentences to life. With the credibility of the media taking a beating along with its congress masters in the coalgate & blocking issues, they both will be looking for a stage to get it even with the opposition especially the BJP. Now that the monsoon session has ended & the Aman Ki Asha in the air , they will recoup to strike back hard at BJP. The opposition has to keep the momentum going by keeping the demand for MMS resignation & Coal blocks cancellation in the narrative.

Given the short life span of an issue in the MSM or in the social media its an uphill task for the BJP to maintain the pressure that they successfully did in the last few weeks. Any let down in the aggression can back fire given the communal credentials of the congress dirty tricks department. Also need to closely watch the Election commission who can at any given point announce the all important Gujarat elections. Interestingly NaMo will be on a Yatraa soon covering the entire state in the run upto the elections. One needs to watch the next few weeks / months very closely as they will define the outcome of 2014 & the political theater shifts to Gujarat ……………….
