Wall of Untouchability – Now a tale of Past in Uthapuram Village
Madurai: Thanks to the leadership of VHP in Madurai, so called caste Hindus and SC Hindus who fought over the ‘wall of untouchability’ in Uthapuram village earlier have shed their differences and is now working together for a unified Hindu society.
Representatives of both sides along with VHP leader Chinmaya Somasundaram met Police officers and requested to withdraw cases against the people of both sides . Some 30 cases are pending against both sides since 2005.
This is the second major step both sides have taken to bring about peace after the SC Hindus were allowed to enter the Muthalamman temple after series of talks by VHP to both sides. Superindent of Police Asra Garg has also played a significant role in easing the tension.
