Votebank politics of Haj Subsidy

published on May 10, 2012

While ‘welcoming’ the SC ruling on easing out Haj subsidies within the next 10years, MIM MP, Assadudin Owaisi, said that Right Wing ‘extremists’ have also been demanding the stoppage of the Haj subsidy.

I would like to point out to him, that had the so-called Right-wingers been ‘extremists’ they would not have allowed the unreasonable Haj subsidies  running into crores of rupees every year, to be doled out from the tax-payers and temple funds for the last 60 odd years!

The Congress’ votebank politics and the Muslim leaders’ selfishness and the lack of Vision on the part of the  so-called ‘Pillars of Democracy’ was responsible for this scourge to continue for so many years in a ‘secular’ country, where even basic  civic amenities like sanitation/toilet facilities, drinking water, proper roads, medical
facilities, educational needs are yet to be provided in several rural as well as urban areas. It is unpardonable that the Govt spent crores of rupees every year to please a religious community, while denying religious freedom to the majority hindus by taking control of their temples and  temple properties and  misusing the funds  donated by the
devotees. While the Muslims in India are thriving with the largesse of  the tolerant Hindus, their co-religionists in  Pakistan  and Bangladesh have been  persecuting the hapless Hindu minorities and forcibly converting them to the intolerant religion of Islam. There is only a miniscule percentage of Hindus in these Islamic states now.

Inspite of enjoying so many privileges in India, ungrateful islamists like Owaisi are treating the generous Hindus with scorn! Owaisi wants the Haj subsidy amount to be invested for the education of muslim women. Why only Muslim women? The Haj subsidy, which is not given by any other country in the world,  must be stopped at the earliest, and the amount utilised to provide basic civic amenities to the rural
poor, irrespective of caste and community. There should also be a national debate on ‘Secularism in India’, and the injustice suffered by  Hindus in their own country.
