VHP Appeal – Donation for Flood Victims
Floods and landslides are the most dangerous natural phenomenon to affect several parts of the beautiful hilly district (Queen of hills) during the monsoon every year and this year on 7th November 2009 the catastrophic rains which continued for 5 consecutive days played havoc with wide spread damage and destruction of human lives and dwellings.
Due to the torrential and incessant rains caused by troughs of low pressure in the adjoining seas, 43 people have either been buried alive or washed away in the cruel land slide/mudflows and the death toll may be on the higher side in the coming days, since rescue works are still underway. Major land slide have occurred in more than 200 places and about 500 houses have been flattened and more than thousand houses have been badly damaged making them unsafe for dwelling.
The famous hilly district (Queen of Hills) which attracts innumerable tourists from different parts of the world through out the year, remains cut off from rest of the world since all the roads have been damaged making it impossible for vehicular traffic.
The people affected by this natural calamity are very badly in need of immediate help and succor and it is the duty of every human being to go their rescue. Many Hindu families have lost their homes and other properties and they are to be taken care of on a war footing. The affected families have to be provided with food, shelter and clothing.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad, Nilgiris therefore request all the altruistic Hindu brothers and sisters living in this country and abroad to liberally donate for this noble cause of alleviating the sufferings of our Hindu brothers and sisters especially at this hour of crises.
