New Delhi, Jan 24: Brushing aside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s remark that equity did not amount to appeasement of minorities, the BJP on Wednesday attacked UPA government saying it had indulged in “worst form of appeasement” during its rule by doling out sops with an eye on the vote bank.

Speaking to newspersons, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned the UPA`s “doctrine of equity” which called for earmarking loans for minorities and giving them first right on the resources.

Citing the instances of delay on Afzal Guru`s hanging, earmarking loans and resources, religion-based headcount in army, Prasad demanded to know under what doctrine of equity these instances fit in.

Prasad said even BJP was committed to minorities and deprived classes, but not in the manner that caused “alienation and envy” between the communities.

“The BJP wants not only minority but all Indians, as also all deprived, to develop and contribute to the nation, because it believes in justice to all and appeasement to none,” he said.
