ULFA playing into hands of ISI: BJP
Dibrugarh, Jan. 10 (PTI): The BJP today accused the ULFA of playing into the hands of Pakistan’s ISI and blamed the Centre for allegedly taking a soft stand on the banned outfit.
“The ULFA has ISI links. They are playing into the hands of the ISI. They are, therefore, not in a position to take any decision on their own, even whether to have a dialogue with the government,” BJP president, Rajnath Singh, told reporters here.
Asserting that the ISI was attempting to create unrest in Assam, he said, the ULFA had never spoken against the illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators in the state and the attacks on the Hindi-speaking people paved way for Bangladeshis to avail of the employment opportunities here.
He said the on-going ULFA violence was not an Assamese-Bihari communal clash, but was “for giving employment to illegal Bangladeshis in the State by evicting the Biharis through terrorism from the State.”
He demanded the Centre to bring out a white paper on the ULFA-ISI links so that people would know about the insurgent outfit’s links with the Pakistani intellegence organisation.
“As the Congress used the ULFA during the elections, the party now cannot talk with them,” Singh alleged.
Accusing the Centre of not taking seriously the ULFA violence in Assam and solving the insurgency problem here, Singh said his NDA government had taken up with the governments of Bhutan and Myanmar the need for destroying the outfit’s training camps there.
