This is “SECULAR INDIA”- If you please!!
Cinema has always been a media of fascination for the Indians, For years we have seen many controversies surrounding various films also. The more recent of these would be the protest against Fire and Water. The blockade of Aamir Khan’s film in Gujarat. Even after protest from the Hindu community for various reasons these have been released across the cinema halls across India by the secular intellectual brigade of India.
More recently was the voice and statements against the Gujarat government and the hindutva activists for the protests against Parzania and for blockading this movie that shows a biased picture of the Gujarat riots.
Last year we saw protests from the catholic community in India make the government bow down and make changes in the film Da Vinci Code before it was released. The government even had a special screening with the Catholic leaders before they moved the movie to the censors to make amendments in it. The big gainer was the writer of the book and film producer ( both Christan ) as they got free publicity for it.
On Friday the Roman catholics called off their protest against the Discovery Channel after the channel agreed to black out the telecast of its controversial documentary of Jesus Christ. The catholics protested against the “The Lost Tomb Of Jesus” as it claims the documentary shows the burial place of Christ questioning one of the main platforms of the Bible, the Resurrection of Christ.
‘The Lost Tomb of Jesus’ is a feature documentary, directed by Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici and produced by Oscar-winning director James Cameron of the ‘Titanic’ fame, Flex Golubev and Ric Esther Bienstock.
The Catholic Secular Forum had earlier asked Discovery to refrain from broadcasting this serial. The term secular catholic itself is a joke, because the Catholics are one of the strongest missionaries working in the country that completely rejects all other religions like Sanathana Dharma. The Catholics use their followers to make strong vote banks in every election. They use their combined power to gain lots of things from the so called secular government of India in the name of minoritism.
The CSF has vowed to continue with the awareness campaign to get Jabobivici’s book and DVD’s banned in India. The Lost Tomb of Jesus’ traces the discovery of thousands of tombs containing ossuaries or limestone boxes that served as coffins in the first-century Jerusalem. One of these tombs was found to contain ten ossuaries. The feature documentary makes a case that the 2000-year-old ‘Tombs of the Ten Ossuaries ‘ belonged to the family of Jesus of Nazareth. The film also documents DNA extraction from human residue found in two of the ossuaries and reveals new evidence that throws light on Jesus’ relationship with Mary Magdalene. The documentary includes dramatic recreations, based on the latest historical evidence, illustrating accurate images of Jesus of Nazareth, his family, his followers, his ministry, his crucifixion and his entombment.
Surprisingly we don’t see any references from the secular brigade or the leftists against this protest. They have always come out when the Hindus have protested. They have also spoken out against the Muslim protests against Salman Rushdie and the cartoon issue. But this time the ramblings are not be heard.
