Terror threats for BJP Leaders
NEW DELHI: After a word of caution to Congress scion Rahul Gandhi, the security and intelligence agencies have advised the BJP state leadership take adequate measures while campaigning in Uttar Pradesh in the run-up to the assembly polls.
The agencies have warned that some extremist groups may target them to flare-up the communal situation in the state. They have named state BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Kalyan Singh, Vinay Katiar and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi as possible targets. Both Rajnath Singh and Kalyan Singh have ‘Z plus’ security cover. Naqvi said there was a threat perception from banned militant outfits like SIMI, towards which the Mulayam government has been soft.
There are some doubts whether former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee would campaign for the party. His health has been falling and he could not campaign despite his name being announced and preparations made by the party. LK Advani will take charge by attending 120 rallies and meetings in 20 days.
