Rashtriya
Swayayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Sar Sangh Chalak KS Sudarshan on Saturday
stepped down after nearly nine years at the helm, paving way for
general secretary Mohan Bhagwat to succeed him, RSS sources said here.

The
change of guard in the Sangh Parivar hierarchy came on the second day
of the RSS’ three-day Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha, which is in
progress at Reshimbagh Smruti Mandir here.

RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav, while talking to the media, said that this
time a relatively younger person was chosen as the RSS chief

Veteran ideologue
Suresh Soni will be the new Sar Karyawaha (general secretary) of the
Sangh Parivar fountainhead, the sources added.

Kuppahalli Sitaramayya Sudarshan was nine when he first attended an RSS shakha. He was appointed as a pracharak in 1954.

Only full-time members of RSS can become pracharaks. His first
posting as a pracharak was in Raigarh district. In 1964, he was made
the prant pracharak of Madhya Bharat at a fairly young age.

In 1969, he was appointed convener of the heads of All-India
Organisations’. This was followed by a stint in the North-East (1977)
and he took over as the chief of the Boudhik Cell (the RSS think-tank)
two years later.

Since 1990, Sudarshan has been a joint general secretary of the
organisation. He has the rare distinction of having held both posts of
sharirik (physical exercises) and baudhik (intellectual) pramukh
(chief) on different occasions.

Mohan Bhagwatji

Shri Mohan ji Bhagwat hails from a small town called Chandrpur in
Maharashtra. A veterinary doctor by education, Mohanji dedicated
himself completely for the service of society and became a pracharak
(full time volunteer) of RSS.

Shri Mohanji held various responsibilities in Sangh as a district
pracharak for Akola, provincial pracharak for Nagpur, zonal Pracharak
for Bihar and subsequently he became the Sar karyawah, the
constitutional head of RSS. Since more than three years he is at this
position and has been re-elected for next three year term recently.

A prolific speaker, thinker, and a pleasant person, Shri Mohanji has
inspired hundreds of youths to dedicate themselves for Sangh and work
for the Hindu society selflessly.

All swayamsevaks across the globe stands up
to give this great leader a full hearted pranam and wish him all the
best.
