THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : BJP President Rajnath Singh, addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, asked the UPA and Tamil Nadu governments to stop the Ramasethu project. He requested President APJ Abdul Kalam to send all the concerned complaints to the Supreme Courts and seek tits opinion on the subject. It will be detrimental to the country’s security. Enemy vessels get easy access to our waters. Tsunamy-like calamities will cause fatal damages to the wealth and men once he Sethu is demolished. UPA Govt. is going ahead with the project despite the objections raised by the environmental scientists and cultural organizations. Ramasethu should be declared a national heritage property.

The demolition will also cause the loss of heavy thorium deposit. This mater should not be viewed with the political eyes. The interests and lives of coastal people, especially fishermen community, should be safeguarded. Work should be stopped until the expert advice of the scientists are revealed.

The Central Govt. should take into consideration the anxieties expressed by the scientific community. The wide spread anxiety is that we are yielding our national interests to the US pressure. Prime Minister should give an assurance to the country that we will not ink the Indo-US Nuke Contract  as per the pressure of US.

Rajnath Singh also stated that the US move to impose visa regulations on the IT professionals from India will not be in the interests of both countries.
