Srinagar to renamed as Shahar-e-Khas?

Rashtrapati Pratibha Devi Singh Patil expressed her displeassure and astonishment over the reports of changing of ancient and historical names of some Kashmiri villages, religious places, hillocks, mountains etc. She expressed her total disagreement with the moves of rechristening Srinagar as Shahar-e-Khas.  She expressed these vies to a five member delegation of Kashmir vahini, the women wing of Panum Kashmir which called her on June 23.  She keenly sought more details about the issue and assured the delegation of taking up the matter with the appropriate authorities  including the Governor of the State.
