Sri Lankan refugees’ arrival increases
Arrival of Sri Lankan refugees has increased in recent days with 54 Sri Lankan Tamils arriving at Rameswaram yesterday. With this the number of refugees has increased to 289, a report quoting official sources said.
They have been accommodated in the transit camp at Mandapam.
Some of the Sri Lankan refugees were quoted as saying that the situation in their country was tense with both the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE flexing their muscles.
Meanwhile, those who in India since 1983 in the Thiruvathavur camp said they did not want to return to Sri Lanka.
