“Sri Guruji Janm Shatabdi Samaroh Samiti” formed

New Delhi : The year 2006-07 is the Birth Centenary Year of Sri Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar alias Guruji. With a view to celebrate his birth centenary in a big way “Sri Guruji Janm Shatabdi Samaroh Samiti” has been formed which held its first meeting on Paush Krishna 4 Yugabda 5107 i.e.18 January 2006 at Delhi. Pujya Swami Satyamitranandaji Maharaj, erstwhile Shankaracharya of Bhanupura Peeth and the founder of the Bharat Mata Mandir at Haridwar has been elected as the President of the Samiti. Js. M. Rama Jois, former Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court and former Governor of Jharkhand and Bihar will be the Working President. Prominent businessman from Andhra Sri G. Pulla Reddy and Dr. Narendra Prasad, an eminent surgeon from Bihar will be Vice Presidents. Dr. Bajranglal Gupta, economist and a senior functionary of the RSS will act as the Secretary of the Samiti, which will have eleven joint-secretaries from various regions of the country.


 


Over 53 prominent saints and spiritual leaders have consented to be the members of the Board of Patrons (Samrakshak Mandal) while there will be 122 eminent citizens from various parts of the country as members of the Samaroh Samiti. Some of the eminencies of the Samiti include: Sri Atal Behari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister; Sri Jag Mohan, former Union Minister; Sri N. Vittal, former Vigilence Commissioner; Sri Bhai Mahaveer, former Governor; Js. Sushant Chattopadhyay, former CJ, Orissa High Court; Sri Ashok Singhal, International president of VHP and Sri Mohanrao Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah of the RSS. Prominent media baron Sri Yogendra Mohan Gupta, Chairman, Jagran group of companies and eminent journalists Sri M.V. Kamath and Sri Mujaffar Hussain have also consented to be the members of the Samiti. Renowned academicians like Dr. A. Sukumaran Nair, former VC of Kerala University; Prof. Ved Nanda, VC of University of Denver, Colorado, USA; Dr. Mahesh Upadhyay, former VC, Tribhuvan University, Khatmandu and Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Aligarh will also be the members of the Samiti.


 


Among members are well-known sportsmen like cricketer Sri Jawagal Srinath; sprint queen Smt. P.T. Usha; billiards champion Sri Geet Sethi and ace shooter Sri Jaspal Rana; well-known artists like danseuse Smt. Sonal Mansingh; violinist Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman; creator of the Mohan Veena Sri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt; prominent film personalities like actors Sri Bharat Gopi, Sri Chittaranjan Kolhatkar and director Sri Raj Dutt etc.


 


Internationally renowned scientists Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, formerly with C-DAC; Dr. Madhav Chitale, formerly with the UN as water management specialist; renowned Yoga guru Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar; eminent doctors like Dr. Badrinath, Shankar Nethralaya, Chennai; Dr. S.J. Nagalothi Math, Pathologist, Bangalore; Dr. Ajit Phadke, Urologist, Mumbai will also be the members.


 


Among the members are the literary stalwarts like Dr. Maheep Singh, Sri Narendra Kohli and Prof. Rambhau Shevalkar. Lama Chosphel Zotpa, President, Himalaya Bouddha Samskriti Sabha; Sri Bikram Bahadur Jamatiya, Patron Jamatiya Hada, Tripura; Sri Akthar Hussain, Working Presdient, Sarv Panth Samadar Manch; Sri Abraham Varghese, Joint Co-ordinator, SJM.


 


Year long activity is being planned to project the personality, pre-eminence and ideas of Sri Guruji widely across all sections of our society. It was due to persistent efforts of Shri Guruji, that saints and seers all over the country came together to deliver the messages like’ Hindavah sahodara sarve’[ all Hindus are brothers], ‘ Na Hindu Patito Bhavet’ [No Hindu shall ever be fallen]. To further this message of social harmony to all sections of society is the central theme of the programmes. Towards this end Hindu rallies would be organized at the block level all over the country. Meetings of caste and religious leaders will be organized with the objective of promoting harmony. Seminars, symposia, lectures etc will also be organized to propagate the ideas and vision of Sri Guruji. Committees are being formed at state and district levels also to undertake these activities in a big way.


 


The Birth Centenary Celebrations will commence on the birthday of Sri Guruji, the 24th February 2006 with a massive function at Nagpur. The concluding function will be held at Delhi on 18 February 2007.
