Sree Hari Vidya Niketan

There are a large number of Schools, Bal Vihaars, Balika Sadans and such institutions being run by charitable trusts managed by Hindu organizations in various parts of the country. In Kerala also there are many such institutions, but most of them are facing utmost financial hardship. Similar institutions of the so called religious minorities have the advantage of fund flow from abroad as well as domestic sources. Now the central and state governments are competing in allocating crores of rupees to such institutions. The changes brought about in Madrassa education by equating them to CBSE and the pension granted to Madrassa teachers are just a few examples. Hindus cannot hope for such a boon or envisage about a magic wand to bring about changes. We have to find our resources and for that a collective thinking and generous participation sometimes beyond ones limits are need of the time. Otherwise we are destined for a total collapse.

Here is a glittering example of a joint effort. At Cherupoika village near Puthoor in Kollam district a handful of determined persons have dared to start a Public School for economically backward children. They started Class ARUN(LKG) with 42 students in 2004. Presently they have upto V standard and a total of 182 students. The school is following the CBSE syllabus and every effort is being put to ensure that they are imparting quality education to the children coming from economically backward families. A devoted lot consisting the following are managing the Trust:

President – Gopinatha Pillai (Retired from Coir Board)
Members – Dr.Sajan, Dr.Nanda Kumar, Colonel(Retd) Sadanandan, Ramachandran Pillai

The Trust is also running an institution `Santhuanam’ for the mentally retarded persons.

Please do realize that in a remote village of Kollam district, a group of committed persons have ventured to set up a model public school with the only support they receive from devote Hindus. Their survival and progress largely depends on continued support. They have designed a programme wherein a person could sponsor a poor student by donating Rs.5000/- per annum. Please consider this as an appeal and do sponsor a poor child. For more details you may contact SARATH CHANDRAN – 0091 9847174907 and your donations could be sent to:
