bjp.jpgFormer president of BJP M Venkaiah Naidu has said that the party would finalise the name of its candidates for the Lok Sabha election by the end of July. The BJP leader was inaugurating the south Indian campaign of the party for the ensuing Lok Sabha election on Saturday. He said that the State units are given the responsibility to select candidates with a clean record for contesting the election.

He said that the BJP campaign for the elections would be mainly focused on the inflation and the problems faced by the people owing to this, agricultural crisis, terrorism, the minority appeasement carried out by the UPA Government, the divergent views and the rampant infighting in the UPA resulting in the loss of stability of the Government.

Venkaiah Naidu said that the Parliament elections are imminent and called upon the party workers and cadres to be prepared for the elections. He lambasted the UPA Government at the Centre and said that the Government is working on an anti-people basis .

Naidu said that the party leadership has already made several rounds of grass root preparations as part of the election strategy and called upon the Kerala leaders to work tirelessly to open the party account in the State .

The BJP leader said that the Left parties are taking a dual role at the Centre and said that the Left parties does not have the guts to withdraw the support extended to the UPA Government at the Centre. He also said that if the Left parties are sincere in the criticisms on the rise in prices of essential commodities and the quantum jump of the inflation, they should have already withdrawn their support.

The BJP State committee meet which was held the other day at Kottayam also deeply discussed on the partys’ prospects in the coming Lok Sabha elections. There were reports in a section of the media that the State RSS leadership has insisted on the BJP leadership to contest in only three lok sabha seats considering the poor performance of the party in the other seats. There were also reports that the RSS had called upon the national leaders of the BJP in charge of the state including Balbir K Punj and V Satheesh and clearly discussed with them on the preference of the seats of the sangh which included Thiruvananthapura, Mavelikkara and Kasargod.

There were reports that the RSS would decide upon as to what strategy it would adopt in the other seats . It may be recalled that the party had recorded a good performance in the previous lok sabha elections with Kozhikode and Palakkad putting up commendable performances securing more than a lakh of votes in the last elections .

It is learnt that the BJP state leadership meet had discussed this issue in detail and the party spokesman MS Kumar told the media that the party and its allies would contest in all the seats in the coming elections .

The BJP in the State would be mainly concentrating on the recent upsurge in Islamic fundamentalism and the growing rates of essential commodities. Kerala being a consumer state is highly affected by the continuing rise in prices of essential commodities.

Sources in the party told The Pioneer that the BJP is trying to woo the Nairs and Ezhavas and have already extended the olive hand to both the NSS and the SNDP.

There are reports that the National leadership of the BJP would send some senior leaders of the party to meet the leadership of these two organisations. This is being seen as a major ideological move taken by the party.

However sources in both the organisations told The Pioneer that there is no such immediate meetings aimed at political bonhomie. The NSS maintained that it is practicing equidistant policy in politics while the SNDP leadership was non committal on the question.

It may be recalled that it was LK Advani as the Deputy Prime Minister of the country who had inaugurated the Sree Narayana Guruswami bust at Thiruvananthapuram and sources told The Pioneer that this act could again be repeated.
