Spectrum Fraud and Failure of Intelligence Agencies
Raja’s spectrum fraud exposes the supine incapability of our intelligence agencies, bureaucracy and the office of the President itself. What needs to be probed is whether our Intelligence Agencies (there is no dearth of them) were at least aware of what was happenning right under their noses ?
Several foreign players were trying to manipulate Raja’s spectrum auction tamasha. Many foreign intelligence agencies would have been keen to infiltrate into the telecom sector to pry into our defence sector. Were our Intelligence Agencies alert about this aspect ? Did they inform the PMO ? If the PMO keeps quiet , does it mean that the country has no other mechanism to foil inimical plans ? What was the Cabinet Committee on Security doing ?
Raja’s spectrum fraud is not just another corruption scandal. IT IS AN ANTI-NATIONAL ACTIVITY, having as its consequence the crippling of our telecommunication sector. The entire Telecommunication Sector would become prone to interception by alien intelligence agencies.
It also needs to be probed as to why organisations like the Central Vigilance Commission, whose present chief was earlier by coincidence the Telecom Secretary, doing ?
Did the IB and RAW ever alert the PMO about the telecom fraud to the PMO ? If, yes, then the culpability of the PMO gets more onerous and serious. I,f no, then the functioning of these agencies need to be overhauled.
The case pending before the Apex Court has to be enlarged to bring into ambit the functioning of the PMO and the Intelligence Agencies.
