The Maharashtra police on Monday (July 20) arrested 4 Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) members in Maharashtra’s Akola district. The police busted a secret SIMI meeting which was taking place in Mana village. According to the police, around 35 SIMI members were present at the meeting.

The names of 3 out of the 4 arrested SIMI members are, Sayyed Ibrahim, Abdul Razzak and Maqsud Mehboob Khan, who were arrested earlier this morning while trying to flee in a Tata Indica after the police raided the SIMI meet. The arrested SIMI members will be produced in court later on Monday.

Each of the members of the group are from different parts of Maharashtra. Sayyed Ibrahim is from Yavatmal, abdul Razzak from Jalna and Maqsud Mehboob Khan from Aurangabad.

Meanwhile, security forces had been put on alert after a fresh terror alert were sounded. Sources said, this alert represented the most serious threat to India in two years.
