Serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, Nation on Alert
Mumbai:Seven bomb blasts rocked the suburban railway service in Mumbai today evening. Reports of bomb blasts have came by 6.20 PM IST.Blasts have been reported from trains in :
1st Blast On Local near Matunga Station
Blast Took Place Near Matunga In The First Class Compartment
2nd Blast Reported Near Khar Station
3rd Blast Reported Mira Road Station
4th Blast Reported Near Jogeshwari
5th Blast Reported At Borivili Station
6th Blast Reported At Bhayander
7th Blast Reported Between Bandra-Khar, Near Subway
Initial reports say that at least 15 people have been killed.This is rush hour in Mumbai with most commuters heading north towards their residences. All the explosions took place in the first class compartments of trains. All trains on the Western line route had been suspended. All local phones, including mobile services, in the city had jammed apparently due to congestion in the system as anxious people tried to reach their loved ones.
Police cordoned off all railway stations on the Western line and strict frisking and checking were carried out at the Central and Harbour sections of local trains services.Security has been tightened through out the city.
All the major cities were reportedly on high alert following the attacks, which came hours after a series of grenade attacks by Islamic extremists killed eight people in Srinagar
