PATNA: A series of low-intensity blasts rocked Patna on Sunday ahead of Narendra Modi’s Hunkar rally.

A crude bomb exploded at a platform in Patna railway station on Sunday, leaving one person killed.

“The explosion occurred at an isolated place on platform number 10. It was a crude bomb and one person has been injured,” SSP Manu Maharaj told reporters here.

According to police, one explosion took place near Elphistone Cinema hall on eastern side of the Gandhi Maidan.

According to TV reports, four low-intensity blasts took place in and around the Gandhi Maidan. People were seen leaving the Gandhi Maidan.

The blasts happened just hours before BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was to address a rally in the Bihar capital, for which BJP had made extensive arrangements to bring the people to the city.

Narendra Modi has arrived in Patna to address the ‘Hunkar’ rally.

RPF sources said that the explosion took place in a paid toilet at the station.

The SSP said that bomb disposal and forensic teams have reached the spot and the area was being sanitised.
