RSS Relief work at Nalgonda
via Nalgonda published on November 2, 2005
The RSS Swayamsevaks were the first to reach the tragic accident site of Repally-Secunderabad Delta Passenger train at Nagaram, Nalgonda district. One batch led by Gundla Nagaraju was the first to reach the submerged compartments and retrieve many dead bodies and take them to the shores in boats. They have prepared grounds and laid dead bodies in orderly manner and later helped to carry the bodies into the relief trains. They have also distributed 300 food packets and fresh drinking water to those who survived. Another batch which came from Bhuvangiri under Sri Domakonda Satyanarayana also helped in the relief operations. Another batch under the leadership Lingaswamy did a human service to those who were affected.
In all about more than 100 Swayamsevaks divided themselves in four batches and participated in relief operations which was very much appreciated by those who survived as swayamsevaks were the first to reach the site even before the government machinery and army arrived. The swayamsevaks took care of safeguarding the money and material that was scattered at the site of accident to be handed over after identification of owners. The swayamsevaks helped the relatives of the diseased in identifying and dispatching to their homes.
Sri Shyamji, state joint organising secretary of RSS AP, visited Nalgonda government hospital and enquired about the welfare of the patients and consoled their relatives.
