The Rashtriya Sevika Samiti, the women’s wing of the RSS, supported DGP V. Dinesh Reddy’s comments stating that wearing fashionable clothes is a factor contributing towards an increase in rape cases.

RSS leader and advocate Vijaya Bharathi met the DGP along with other leaders of the organisation. “The DGP’s comment about wearing obscene clothes being one of the factors leading to rapes is 100 per cent true. Some of the women’s organisations are opposing this, but we welcome the DGP’s comments. Obscenity in society, pornographic literature and indecent dressing and abusive words are key reasons for this situation. Innocent youth and children are falling prey to this culture.” They said that the DGP’s comments help in brining about awareness in society.

Meanwhile, sources in the DGP’s PRO said that Mr Dinesh Reddy is contemplating to book a defamation case against two national channels and others who allegedly misinterpreted his comments
