RSS initiative to make Delhi fully literate
NEW DELHI : India’s national capital will soon be fully literate at a meagre cost of Rs 42 per person, courtesy a massive campaign being launched on republic day by Sewa Bharti, the service wing of RSS, as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Sangh’s second chief guru M S Golwalkar.
Confronted with a whopping 20 lakh illiterates (as per census), Sewa Bharti would be working in phases to target those adults who have been deprived of basic education due to various reasons, said Prem Chand Goyal, all India Chief of the RSS service wing.
In the first phase, to be launched on January 26 and commence on February 1, 496 slum clusters and Jhuggi Jhompri colonies would be covered and over 50,000 illiterate adults would be made fully literate within three months.
Interestingly, no paid staff is being employed for the campaign and over 1200 volunteers will work as teachers, devoting an hour each day, he said.
Former director general of Punjab police K P S Gill would be formally launching the campaign on January 26, he said.
