RSS evolves with times : Bhagwat
Bhopal, Nov 20 (PTI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) evolves with changing times, but its foundation remains in the rich and old Indian values, Sangh General Secretary Mohan Rao Bhagwat said here today.
“We are people who change with the changing times. But, our foundation is firmly built on rich and old values”, Bhagawat said, inaugurating the 51st national convention of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here.
“If the RSS chief uses a computer, it hits the headlines”, he said adding that “unlike popular belief that RSS sticks to old beliefs and customs, it has accepted modernisation and has evolved with it to show the right path to the people of the country”.
Asking ABVP workers to equip themselves to defend their rights and beliefs, Bhagawat said the need was to `awaken’ the people of the country.
Claiming that diversity in the country was creating `fissures’, he asked ABVP activists to enrich their `knowledge and character’ as it was the only way to unite the nation.
Addressing the gathering, ABVP President Kailash Sharma claimed that while youths were being `misled towards violence like in the north-eastern states’, the Parishad was committed to nation-building.
Speakers at the inaugural session of ABVP Convention also accused the Centre of working for the appeasement of minority communities and sought a debate on reservation for minorities in education.
