RSS, BJP discuss Centre’s ‘scheme to frame pracharaks’

Alarm bells are ringing in the RSS with reports that the Centre has been working overtime to fix the outfit in cases related to terror activities. The parivar is “disturbed to notice a tendency among investigating agencies to drag the pracharaks into terror-related cases, but it has decided not to defend anyone, if found having a role in such cases.

“The Government’s motive is quite obvious. It can go to any extent. Though we have decided not to defend any individual — if found guilty, we understand that it is a move to harass the RSS pracharaks,” RSS sources told The Pioneer here on Tuesday.

Concerned over the Government’s intention, the RSS and the BJP leaders held a meeting here on Tuesday to chalk out future strategy and counter any move by the Congress regime at the Centre and in States to fix the Sangh.

The meeting was attended by BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Ananth Kumar and Bal Apte. RSS leaders Madan Das Devi, Ramlal and Ram Madhav were also present. Earlier, Rajnath, Ananth and Apte also went to the RSS office at Jhandewalan in the national capital.

The development comes a day before the three-day-long meeting of the RSS pracharaks at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. RSS sources revealed that Sangh veterans, who would attend the annual meeting in Jodhpur, would also deliberate on this “serious issues”, besides other organisational matter.

Investigating agencies are understood to be scanning the role of certain individuals, who are alleged to have been associated with the RSS in the past, in terror-related cases — including blasts in Ajmer, Mecca Masjid, Samjhauta Express and others.

The parivar is “surprised to note” what started as a stray case of the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, in connection with the Malegaon blast, soon translated into a full-blown attempt to drag RSS leaders in several other terror-related cases.

“It could be possible that any stray individual having association with any of our affiliates in the past has some sort of involvement in any such cases, but such incidents should not be generalised for the RSS. Moreover, it is now known to everyone that the Government was working overnight, for obvious reason, to create a “Hindu link” to terror cases,” a top RSS leader told The Pioneer.
