Rashtriya Mahatma Gandhi Award to be given to Seva Bharti Bhopal

Madhya Pradesh Government’s this year prestigious Rashtriya Mahatma Gandhi Award will be given to RSS affiliate Seva Bharti, New Delhi.

The award was announced here on Sunday by the Minister for Culture, Mines and Public Relations, Laxmikant Sharma. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a citation. Defending the decision to award Seva Bharti of New Delhi, Minister said Gandhiji also believed in serving humanity and the Seva Bharti is doing the same service. The minister also announced other national and

state-level awards of Madhya Pradesh Government for the year 2007-08 on the occasion. National Kabir Samman for poetry will be given to Padma Sachdev. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and a citation.

Similarly, the National Maithilisharan Gupt Samman for Hindi literature will be given to Shatrughan Prasad. The award carries a cash award of Rs 2 lakh and a citation. The national-level Kalidas Samman will be given to noted sculptor, Satish Gujral. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a citation.

The Kalidas Samman for the classical music will be given to noted musician Balwant Rai Bhatt (Bhavrang). The award carries a cash award of Rs 2 lakh and a citation.
