Rape accused arrested by effort of HS workers

Victim – Kanika Sardar, (name changed) age 19.
Village – Siristala, PS – Sandeshkhali. Dist.- North 24 Parganas.

Rapists : (1) Ishan Baidya, s/o, Mannan (2) Soradh Gazi, s/o, Yajaddi (3) Ghani Molla, s/o, Akbar.
All are resident of village – Atharo Baki, PS – Jibantala, dist. – South 24 Parganas.

Date – 14.05.2014.

The victim Adivasi girl Kanika and her friend Shibu Sardar were returning at 10.30 pm night from Mela (fare) at Charabidya. In a vacant place on the road some Muslims boys were drinking wine. They spotted the duo, stopped them, beat up the boy Shibu and forcibly captured and took away the hapless girl Kanika by 2 motorbike to a vacant farmland of Gabbunia. There the 3 of the accused raped the hapless girl.
The boy Shibu ran to nearby village Mandirbazar and informed the local people. The villagers spotted one Muslim boy Bablu Seikh whom Shibu identified as companion of the culprits. HS boys already had reached there. They beaten up Bablu to find out the whereabout of the girl Kanika. Bablu has been compelled to tell the place where the girl was taken. HS boys along with villagers reached the spot and found the girl in unconscious condition. They brought the girl, gave her primary treatment. By this time, police of Jibantala PS was informed. Police came and took custody of Bablu Seikh. Police made Bablu to tell the names of the culprits.

The girl’s family was informed. Her mother came. But she was not ready to lodge complain to police fearing further harassment. HS workers convinced and compelled them to go to Jibantala police station and lodge complain duly on 15 .05.14 evening. Police registered the rape case (Case no.- Jibantala 276/14) and raided houses of the culprits. Only 1 culprit has been arrested on15th night. Other 2 are still absconding.

Yesterday Police arranged Medical Test of the victim girl at Canning hospital.

Today on 17th May, HS workers accompanied the girl to Alipore court and the girl gave her personal statement (under Sec.164) to the Magistrate. After that, the girl, her friend Shibu have been brought to HS office.

Very shortly HS will arrange their marriage.
