Price rise: Arrest hoarders protected by Sonia Gandhi – Dr. Subramanian Swamy

Statement of Dr. Subramanian Swamy, President of the Janata Party.

The present galloping rise in prices of essential commodities is entirely due to hoarding and profiteering enabled by the huge black money earned by politicians in the Common Wealth Games and in the 2G Spectrum.  The hoarders have the political patronage of key persons in the Government and given protection from the enforcement of the  Essential Commodities Act  by no less a person in the UPA than Ms Sonia Gandhi herself while the Prime Minister sadly has no choice but to watch on.

Hence, the only solution for bringing down the prices is by strong action against  the hoarders including arresting`them under the National Security Act.  That prices could be brought down was proved by Morarji Desai during the first Janata Government in 1977. Unfortunately for the people as long as UPA is in power, there is no chance of controlling prices on a long term basis.
