Bangalore: A calendar highlighting some of the prominent Hindu religious sites in the pilgrimage centre of Kashi was launched here today by VHP leader Pravin Togadia.

The 13-page calendar has photographs of different deities housed in various temples in Kashi, Togadia, who has personally visited the temples and undertaken the ‘Explore Kashi project’, told reporters here today.

Each page carried some information on the uniqueness of the religious site and deity, he said and were shot during the 22 day-tour undertaken by Togadia along with experts.

Another single page calendar of 20 into 30 size with pictures of all deities was also launched.

Quoting scriptures and books related to these temples, he said worship of these deities could help in redressing financial problems and other obstacles.

To a question whether they could help tame inflation, Togadia said with a grin “If Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and minister Sharad Pawar go to Kashi and have a darshan it would bring down inflation.”

The Kashi project was completed in six months and would be followed by similar projects on other famous pilgrimage centres, he said.”We chose to start with Kashi as it is India’s ancient cultural and religious centre”, he said.

The aim was to reach two crore Hindu homes by distributing around two lakh of these calendars.
