UDVADA (VALSAD): Chief priest Vada Dastoorji Khurshedji Dastoorji blessed Narendra Modi that he assume the post of prime minister of India when the community celebrates the 1300th anniversary of Shreeji Pak Iranshah at Udvada. “Modi’s visit to Udvada will be recorded in the glorious Zoroastrians history and we look forward to welcome him as prime minister of the country during the 1290th anniversary celebration of Shreeji Pak Iranshah at Udvada,” he said. Chief minister Narendra Modi also got compared with Jadi Rana, the king of Sanjan, who welcomed the Parsis to India, by Hindi film actor Boman Irani.

“The Parsis had arrived 1300 years ago at Sanjan and got full protection and cooperation of Jadi Rana. Today we get similar cooperation from the chief minister of Gujarat,” Irani said in his speech.

A touched Modi said the Parsis had given him lot of love and he would definitely return to Udvada. “I don’t know what post I would be occupying then but I would participate in the 1300th anniversary celebration of Shreeji Pak Iranshah,” he said. Modi also said Parsis must think of going back to Iran. “Roaming around the world for 2,500 years, the Jews used to say that we would meet in Israel next year. The Jews after a long struggle are in Israel. Parsis should have same feeling for Iran,” the chief minister said. However, Behram Mehta, managing director of Aava Water, in his speech said, “We don’t want to go to Iran. We like India. We want to be here. It is our country.”
