Pampa sadya and Pampa vilakku
SABARIMALA: The customary Pampa sadya and Pampa vilakku will be held on January 13.
As part of Pampa sadya, pilgrims will prepare meals in the ‘viris’ (make-shift resting places) located at Valiyanavattom near Pampa on the traditional Erumely-Pampa route, and with around half-a-dozen side-dishes, will distribute it to members of the team at noon after offering the meal to Lord Ayyappa in front of a traditional lamp.
In addition to this, the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham camp at Valiyanavattom will offer Pampa sadya to the pilgrims on the same day.
The presence of Ambalappuzha and Alangattu teams, who perform Erumely pettathullal on January 11, will be a special attraction of the feast. Pampa vilakku: Thousands of pilgrims will participate in the Pampa vilakku celebrations on January 13 evening.
As part of the celebrations, the pilgrims will build bamboo-made floating platforms and use clay lamps and candles for lighting and float them in the Pampa.
Kalabhabhishekam: The customary kalabhabhishekam to be offered by the Devaswom authorities of Sabarimala will be held on January 18. The ritual, performed to cool the idol of Lord Ayyappa which gets hot due to excessive neyyabhishekam during the pilgrim season, will be performed under the leadership of Thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru during uchcha pooja.
