BANGALORE: In a hot pursuit against terrorist, the Bangalore police achieved a breakthrough by arresting a Pakistan-trained ultra with huge cache of weapons including an AK47 and few grenades in the early hours on Friday.

According to police sources, the city police crime branch sleuths arrested Imran who had boarded Bellary-Bangalore bus on Thursday night near Jalahalli in the outskirts of the city, barely half-an-hour before the vehicle reached its destination.

The city crime branch police team led by DCP Ravi Kanthe Gowda stopped the bus near Jalahalli and arrested the Pak-trained terrorist who was allegedly carrying firearm with him.

The police action was followed with a reliable tip-off against terrorist who was allegedly linked with the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. The police also recovered the map and other documents relating to important locations which were the likely targets of a terrorist attack.

The police, after arresting the ultra, have reportedly taken him to undisclosed place for questioning. According to initial reports, the arrested was staying in Hospet for the past five years and running a shop named Kashmiri Handicrafts Stores at Hospet as a cover up for his subversive activities.

The arrest of Imran suspected to have connection with LeT is likely to throw light on the terrorist attack on Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore last year in which a scientist was killed and another five sustained injuries. The arrested Imran, had also undergone training at a terrorist base in Pak, the police sources said.
