Kashmiri Pandits have begun staging protests in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar following the insensitive statement made by National Conference that that it will not allow separate townships for Kashmiri Pandits. The community has demanded nothing less that rehabilitation.

The remonstration titled titled ‘I protest. 25 years of exile, 25 years of denial’ saw a massive crowd of Kashmiri Pandits sharing their plight.

Meanwhile, on Twitter #OurKashmirWeDecide became one of the most shared hashtag.

Meanwhile, Minister of State within the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh said that return of the Kashmiri Pundit to his home is not only his birth right but also his constitutional right.

Seeking support from Opposition over the issue, Singh said, “Opposition would do better by extending cooperating hand to government in finding solution for dignified return of Kashmiri pundits. Because this is something Opposition could have done during 10 years of their rule at Centre and state. Opposition’s unfinished task is being accomplished by present government. They should be appreciative and cooperative about it.”

Yesterday the J&K Opposition National Conference said that they will not let Jammu and Kashmir government to set up separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits but would strive for return of the minority community to their native places in the Valley.

“We are against separate clusters for Kashmiri Pandits. We welcome them (to Kashmir), but we will not let the government to create separate colonies for them,” NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar told reporters during a protest rally against the new recruitment policy of the state government.
