Orrisa reacts

A curfew has been imposed to many parts of Orissa , VHP activists defied  the curfew and damaged two churches and prayer homes and torched over 10 vehicles on their way to Chakapada along with the slain body of VHP leader Laxmananda Saraswati. Two policemen sustained injuries.

The Baptist Church and the pastor’s home were damaged. the Roman Catholic Church was also targetted.

A hindu reacton is being witnessed in Orrisa which is hot spot for conversion activites for the Christian clergy. Often reports of an understanding between the maoists and the chruch has been snubbed as communal frenzy.

The maosists are against the VHP activites of educating the tribals. Giving education to the tribals would mean less and less recruits to the barbaric ideology of the Maosist’s.

The Church also opposses the activities of the VHP as they were making inroads into the tribal area and had been largely succesful in stopping conversion activities.
