Orissa to probe into ‘Fakers and Frauds’ who obtained false Caste certificates
Bhubaneswar
: Orissa Government constituted 10 probe teams headed with an Inspector to look into the complaints against Pana- Christians who obtained fake caste certificates as ST, to grab the job opportunities provided for genuine ST’s among Hindus.
Â
The Supreme Court has laid down a detailed procedure for identification of false caste certificates with the ruling that such cases should be handled by a police officer of the rank of inspector of police.
Â
Most of the complainants alleged that ‘Panas’ and Christian ‘Panas’ have entered into Government services by producing false caste (ST) certificates. Although ‘Panas’ ceased to enjoy the status of Scheduled Caste after conversion to Christianity, Christian ‘Panas’ are still getting both the benefits.
Â
In Kerala as well such fake caste certificates are issued in many panchayaths, especially in Thiruvananthapuram. Though the Hindu organisations have raised their concerns and arranged various protests the Kerala Government is turning a blind eye against this practice.
