CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has upheld an order dated May 7 this year of the Central Review Committee of TADA/POTA justifying invocation of TADA Act provisions against E Sahul Hameed, accused in Hindu Munnani leader Rajagopalan murder case.Justice K Suguna upheld the order while dismissing a writ petition from Hameed seeking to quash the May 7 order and consequently praying for a direction to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to constitute the TADA Review Committee under the chairmanship of a retired or sitting High Court judge as per the directions of the Supreme Court in Shaheen Welfare Association Vs Union of India case.Petitioner contended that he was falsely implicated in the murder committed in October 1994, and a case was registered for offences under various sections of the IPC, Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act.
