Obituary-Senior Pracharak and Editor of Jagruti Shri Vadalamudi -Shri Ram Mohana Rao

Elder Pracharak and editor of Jagruti weekly paper Shri Vadlamudi Rama Mohana Rao passed away on 4th December 2007 at 11-50 Hrs.ie.,Bahula Ekadasi day of Kartikam month in Wodland Hospital,Barkatpura, Hyderabad. He had been suffering from cancer for the last few months.

Born on 23-3-1939 at Machilipatnam of Krishna District, A.P., Shri Rama Mohana Rao right from childhood days, used to attend Sangh Sakha and work as a functionary. Having completed Draftman course at Machilipatnam he worked as a civil Draftsman in P&T Department for some time. Later, he quit the job and plunged into Sangh as an Active Pracharak during 1964. During the same year,he worked as Nagar Pracharak in Tenali; from 1966 as Nellore District Pracharak; from 1968 as Srikakulam District Pracharak; from 1973 as Nellore District Pracharak. Later, ie, in 1985 he took over as editor of Jagruti Weekly paper.

EDITOR FOR THE LAST 22 YEARS.

From 1985 till he breathed his last, he remained as editor of Jagruti paper. While continuing as editor of the weekly, he served as member of Sangh State Executive committee, and also as State Prachar Pramukh for same time.

In Anantpur District which was riven with factional feuds, while working as Vibhag Pracharak he accelerated the Sangh work and maintained very good relations with leaders of all political parties. During emergency time, he worked effectively to protect democratic values in the district.

ESTABLISHMENT OF SHIVAJI SPHOORTI KENDRA.

While working as Anantpur Vibhag Pracharak on the advice of the then State Pracharak late Shri Somaiahji, he prepared a plan for establishment of Shivaji Sphoorti Kendra at Srisailam after studying the Gopuram built by Shivaji and particulars of the visit of Shivaji to the hill shrine of Srisailam. With his initiative, Bhumipuja was held by the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Vasantrao Dada Patil on 23-6-83, the day of coronation of Shivaji on Suddha Trayodashi of Jyestha month. On 16-10-94, he organized the inauguration of Shivaji Statue by the then RSS chief Shri Rajju Bhayya.

During 2001, he took steps to get 1st floor of Sphoorti Kendra inaugurated by the then Central Ministers Shri Anantkumar and ShriVenkaiah Naidu on 10-10-2001, he got mobile dispensary inaugurated by Shri T.V.Deshmukh, the State Sanghchalak. Various historical contents, photos pertaining to Shivaji were collected and arranged in the exhibition by Shri Rama Mohana Raoji. Today every piligrim to Srisailam is also visiting Shivaji Sphoorthi Kendra and get inspired. He also studied the herbal medicines of Girijans there and worked for its development.

Right from Schooldays, he developed passion for photography and
History and continued to study them. He made a thorough study of historical incidents of 2nd World War. He used to collect various photos of important forts of the country and publish in his Jagruti paper along with history of these forts as special edition. He used to cover current political affairs through his editorial columns. He published the matter pertaining to Ayodhya in a book along with photographs. Even while working as Srikakulam District Pracharak, he
Examined the naxalite movement closely. After taking over as Jagruti editor, he covered the naxalite related issues serially in his Jagruti paper.

During Puja Guruji’s centenary celebrations, he personally supervised the translation and subsequent publishing of book “Guruji Samagra Grandhavali”. During that time, he conducted a seminar on Guruji’s thoughts. His last attempt as Jagruti editor was to publish a special edition of the Weekly on the eve of 60 years of Indian Independence.
Thus, he contributed significantly in the print media. He went on working in social sphere till he breathed his last. Setting aside his personal health problems, he gave lot of importance to social cause and worked in that direction and thus he was a fulfilled soul. Hailing from a family of Sangh supporters, he was a bachelor throughout and left behind two elder brothers and one elder sister and one younger sister.

His last rites were performed at 3-00 P.M. on 5-12-07. Large number of
Sangh functionaries, journalists, leaders from various walks of life participated during the cremation. We pray God that his soul may rest in peace.
