GURUVAYUR: Viswa Hindu Parishad International working President S Vedantam has said that no terror strike in the country was possible without local support.
In an exclusive interview, Vedantam told this website’s newspaper here on Monday that neither the Pak Intelligence wing ISI nor any external terrorist organisation can carry out any strikes in the country without the connivance of the local people.
Since independence, the Congress and other political parties were following a policy to please the minorities with an eye on the votebank.
But this appeasement should not be at the cost of the national security as a section of the minority community was misusing the confidence in the community to support the terrorist groups, he said.
“Terrorism has no religion. The government should adopt merciless measures to put down terrorism,†he said.
The coastal areas from Mangalore to Malappuram are highly vulnerable to terrorist activities. The terrorist groups are acquiring and storing hi-tech arms through these coastal areas.
This will be a threat to the security of the country, he said. Kerala is turning to be a safe playground for the terrorists.
The arrest of a Kashmiri terrorist in the state the other day is a warning signal, he said.
Orissa violence: No religious group is involved in the violence against Christians in Orissa , he said.
It is an issue between the Scheduled castes and the tribal people, Vedantam said.
