No quota in AMU: SC

While restoring the ‘minority institution’ tag to the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), the Supreme Court on Monday made it clear that till the time the appeal is to be heard by a larger bench, the university will desist from reserving 50 percent seats for Muslims in post-graduate courses. The Bench headed by Justice KG Balakrishnan held, “till the matter is to come before a larger bench, status quo has to be maintained as on the date of filing of the writ petition.”
