Muslims are Fanatics:Mayawati

Lucknow: Former UP chief minister and BSP leader Mayawati categorically
stated that Muslims are fanatics. Her statement that Muslim voters has leanings towards fundamentalism has opened up a box of bees.

 There were wide protests in UP. She was giving venting  her anger during the press meet after the Meerut municipal elections. Mayawati got agitated due to the manner in which Samajwadi party candidate’s garnered votes by communal propaganda. She also cleared herself that it was due to this communalism of the SP, she told her followers to vote for the BJP as her party did not contest.

 The SP protestors took to the streets and burnt Maywati’s efigy. As a corollary to these protests, she hurriedly arranged a press conference where she said that some TV channel reporters had distorted her statement about Muslims. When asked about why she extended her support to BJP candidates, She said that UP minister, Haji yacoub qureshi’s wife had contested against a powerful and eminent BJP candidate and she asked her party men to vote for him because Qureshi had stirred up communal passion
through his propaganda. In Meerut the BJP had won by a large margin.
