Chennai: Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP today demanded an inquiry into the death of a schoolgirl at Omalur in Salem district.
The girl Saranya, belonging to Pennavaram in Dharmapuri district and staying at the hostel of Fathima Mata Higher Secondary school, had gone missing two days back and her parents had lodged a complaint with the police. Her body was found in the well on Saturday morning. The school authorities had been hushing up the matter for the past two days. The correspondent and two nuns of the school were taken into custody for interrogation.
“Any delay in instituting an inquiry would affect the morale of the children,” party state general secretary Dr Thamizhisai Soundararajan told reporters here.
The state government should also send a committee to the school to build confidence among the students.
She said there were reports that some liquor bottles had been found in the school compound.
