Mr. Karunanidhi should introspect on collapse of Dravidian movement – Dr Swamy
DMK President Mr. Karunanidhi should wake up to the reality of the 21st century India and the mood of the younger generation in Tamil Nadu. His fulminations against Hindus published in Tamil media today shows frustration of a failed Dravidian Movement that he led for last 45 years. Except a small fraction of pro-Naxalite, pro-LTTE and anti-Indian segment, 99.9% of the youth of Tamil Nadu today consider themselves as Indians first and Tamil afterwards.
The defeat suffered by Mr. Karunanidhi in the Assembly poll in 2011 due to national issues such as the 2-G Spectrum, corruption committed by him, his family and his associates, the protection of Rama Setu and the rejection of the Sethu Samudaram Ship Channel Project and his inability to discourage the Tamil youth from going to Hindu temples, should have woken him up to his complete isolation in Tamil Nadu politics today.
By contrast, Ms Jayalalitha, despite being the leader of AIADMK, a party that emerged from the anti-national Dravidian movement, has been intelligent enough to recognize to be on the right side of the mood of the young people of Tamil Nadu. She has supported the protection of Rama Sethu and has visited Hindu temples openly.
The young educated Tamilian today are secretly learning Hindi, and yearning to be a part of the national main stream. Therefore I urge Mr. Karunanidhi to devote the rest of his life to introspection as to why the British- Imperialists-promoted Dravidian movement, which rose to the height of capturing power in the State, has now collapsed and is being rejected by the youth of the Tamil Nadu.
