Move to downplay Coimbatore terror bid

via HK published on July 23, 2006

Coimbatore:Tamilnadu government is trying to downplay the arrest of five terrorist here on Saturday. In a fear of retaliation from Muslims in the next election, DMK government don’t want to highlight this as a serious issue.

`Manidha Neethi Pasarai’ (MNP),who was behind this terror bid in Coimbatore had grown to the present stage as full fledged proponents of Islamic Terrorism during last few years. MNP, however, has grown in stature to occupy the space left behind by organisations like Al-Umma. It is one of the organisations which is most active in Tamil Nadu today. They have a separate intelligence and conversion wing.

Police asserts that their intention does not appear to claim lives, but to create fear among the people! But the public have the right to know about their base, leaders and cadres, motive, from where they got explosives, who provided them financial aid, their International and Inter-state links and many more.

Safe-guarding the life and property of the citizens is the prime duty of any democratically elected government and its ridiculous from their part to protect the terrorists just because they failed to trigger off their bombs and claim innocent lives.
